Gaston Chevrolet
1914 - 1917
The autograph of Gaston Chevrolet has eluded collectors for decades. Not only is it amongst the rarest of Indy 500 memorabilia, it may be the rarest of all American signatures. To date only 3 verified examples have been found, and they can be seen below. By comparison, there are 51 known autographs of Button Gwinnett (signer of the Declaration of Independence).
1920 newspaper photo of Gaston signing a waiver & release document just before his last race. Current whereabouts of this document are "unknown".
